Dear LPS-Campbell Families,

It is with regret that I must inform you that I am recommending to the LPS Board closing the Campbell site of Leadership Public Schools at the end of this year.   As you know, LPS-Campbell has had to move twice in two years.  Next year our campus would be located across town at Leigh High with another move the following year. 

The Campbell Union High School Superintendent and I have been working together to find a permanent site for LPS-Campbell that will be big enough to allow us to grow to our full size.  This will not be possible for a number of years.  However, we do have a permanent school in San Jose that would welcome Campbell students.  

While we could keep looking for a new site for another year, this would not be fair to our students.  Closing at the end of next year would mean our seniors would have to leave their friends and teachers and begin their final year in a school that they have never attended.  This does not seem right.  On the other hand, providing the opportunity for Campbell students to join the LPS San Jose student body allows them to complete their remaining high school years at one school.

We regret notifying you so late in the year, but we have been exploring every option to find a permanent facility within Campbell.  We will now turn our attention to providing a smooth transition for students to San Jose and helping students who do not choose that option find a positive school placement.

The final decision about LPS Campbell will be made by the Leadership Public School Board.  In order to allow the Board to hear your concerns and suggestions, we will hold a Board meeting at the Campbell Community Center (1 W. Campbell Ave, corner of Campbell Ave and Winchester Blvd) at 7:00 pm, Wednesday, June 4^th.  We encourage your participation.  At this time we will also share with you options for your students for next year.

In closing, I want to emphasize that the decision to close the Campbell site was based strictly on facilities problems.  It has nothing to do with the quality of the school or the excellent educational program that has been provided by Mr. Pacheco and the Campbell teachers and staff.

Es con pena que yo le debo informar que recomiendo a la junta directiva de LPS cerrar el sitio de Campbell de LPS al final del año. Como ustedes sabe, LPS- Campbell ha tenido que mover dos veces en dos años. El año próximo nuestra escuela sería situado a otro lado de la ciudad en  Leigh High  con otro movimiento el siguiente año.

El Instituto de la Unión de Campbell Supervisor y yo amos estado trabajando juntos para encontrar un permanente sitio para LPS- Campbell que será suficiente grande para permitirnos crecer a nuestro tamaño lleno. Esto no será posible durante varios años. Sin embargo, nosotros tenemos una permanente escuela en San Jose que daría la bienvenida a estudiantes de Campbell.

Mientras podríamos mantener buscando un nuevo sitio para otro año, esto no sería justo a nuestros estudiantes. Cerrando al fin de año próximo nuestros estudiantes de 12 grado tendrían que dejar sus amigos y a maestros y empezar su año final en una escuela que ellos nunca han asistido. Esto no parece correcto. Por otro lado, proporcionando la oportunidad para estudiantes de Campbell para unir los LPS -San Jose los permite completar su quedándose años de instituto en una escuela.

Arrepentimos de notificarle tan a finales del año, pero hemos estado explorando cada opción para encontrar una permanente facilidad dentro de Campbell. Nosotros ahora concentraremos nuestra atención a proporcionar una transición lisa para estudiantes a San Jose y estudiantes auxiliares que no eligen esa opción encuentra una colocación positiva de la escuela.

La decisión final acerca de LPS- Campbell será hecha por la junta directiva de LPS. Para permitir la junta directiva para oír su concierne y las sugerencias, nosotros tendremos una junta que será en el Centro social de Campbell (1 W. Campbell Avda, el rincón de Campbell Avda y Winchester Blvd) a las 7:00 de la tarde, el miércoles, 4 de junio. Favorecemos su participación. En este momento nosotros también compartiremos con usted las opciones para sus estudiantes para el año próximo.

En fin, yo quiero enfatizar que la decisión de cerrar Campbell fue basado estrictamente en problemas de facilidades. No tiene nada que ver con la calidad de la escuela o el excelente programa educativo que ha sido proveído por Sr. Pacheco y los maestros de Campbell.
