
Speech Pathologist

Leadership Public Schools' mission is to prepare students to succeed in college and to develop effective student leaders. We offer small schools so that students have mo re one-on-one time with teachers along with a four year leadership advisory program in which students take responsibility for their lives and improve their community. LPS operates small, innovative, high-performing public high schools serving educationally and economically disadvantaged urban students. LPS is an award winning, nonprofit with a deep commitment to students who will be first generation college graduates. The Speech Pathologist is a part-time employee or consultant reporting to the Director of Special Education and serving LPS South Bay and East Bay charter high schools. The Speech Pathologist pay range is $80-$100/hr dependent on experience.
Essential Responsibilities :
Integrates language, speech, and hearing program within the student's general education program, consulting with parents, Educational Specialists, and others as appropriate

Provides services that include evaluation, assessment, and remedial programs related primarily to communication deficits of the child identified as meeting eligibility requirements for language, speech, and hearing services
Develop a rapport and an effective working relationship with other Special Education team members, Student Study Team (SST), and the Educational Specialists
Build trust and confidence with students and parents
Provide direct and/or consultation services as defined on the IEP
Teach secondary students in a wide variety of levels
Administrate, analyze, and interpret a wide range of assessment measures
Provide written reports and new goals in draft form for IEP
Participate in scheduled IEP meetings and other Special Education meetings
Qualifications :
Valid California Clinical or Rehabilitative Services-Speech, Language and Hearing credential
Masters or specialist degree
Perform observation, assessment and treatment of language, speech, and hearing issues a
Identify, diagnose and formulate educational, treatment, and remediation plans and strategies
Participate in the implementation of IEP's, behavior plans and related services
Interpret, apply and explain various laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
Prepare and maintain detailed and accurate records and reports according to applicable standards
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Work independently with little direction, planning and organizing work while meeting schedules
Analyze situations accurately and adopt and effective course of action
Operate a variety of office equipment including a computer and assigned software
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
Flexibility and commitment to working in a start-up environment
