Leadership Public Schools Appoints Alex Terman Chief Operating Officer
Terman also receives prestigious selection as a Broad Resident
San Francisco, CA – August 16, 2005 – Leadership Public Schools (LPS), a not-for-profit network of outstanding charter high schools, has named Alex Terman to the new position of chief operating officer, in which he will oversee finance and accounting, human resources, facilities, marketing, and school operations. Terman previously was LPS' vice president of operations. In addition, LPS announced that The Broad Center for the Management of School Systems has selected Terman for the prestigious Broad Residency in Urban Education, a two-year management training program for talented emerging executives seeking to ultimately lead urban school districts.
“Alex has been an essential team member in the evolution and growth of Leadership Public Schools,” said Mark Kushner, chief executive officer and founder of LPS. “His significant business acumen, intellectual capital, and dedication make him a key player in building our vision, and his participation in the Broad Residency will provide him with additional tools to keep LPS on a path of educational success."
Prior to joining LPS, Terman spent four years in business and corporate development at America Online and worked as an associate consultant at Bain & Company, an international management consulting firm. Terman also served as a John Gardner Fellow in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative and as a board member and classroom volunteer for Junior Achievement of the Bay Area. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of California-Berkeley and a Masters in Business Administration from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
