Leadership Public Schools Names New CEO
Leadership Public Schools (LPS), a not-for-profit network of charter high schools in California, announced its selection as CEO of Dr. Louise Bay Waters, a former official in the Oakland Unified School District. LPS’s Board of Trustees ratified Dr. Waters’ selection on January 16, 2008 after the organization conducted a nation-wide search. She will begin her tenure as CEO in March 2008, succeeding CEO and founder of LPS, Mark Kushner.

Orientation Day at Stanford, Graduation Day at UC Berkeley
Leadership Public Schools (LPS) will hold commencement ceremonies for its first graduating class on Sunday, June 10 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will be hosted at Wheeler Hall on the UC Berkeley campus, a location selected to reflect the LPS commitment to achieving college-readiness for its students. Community leader and activist Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Worker's Union with Cesar Chavez, will deliver the keynote address. Ms. Huerta’s leadership qualities, commitment to social justice and contributions to her community are reflective of the LPS vision for all its students.

Leadership Public Schools seeks ASSETs funding from CDE
Leadership Public Schools hereby gives notice that it is our intent to pursue funding for LPS - San Jose, LPS - Campbell, LPS - Richmond, LPS - College Park (Oakland), and LPS - Hayward through the 21st Century High School After School Safety and Enrichment for Teens (ASSETs) Program through the California Department of Education.

Leadership Public Schools Appoints Alex Terman Chief Operating Officer
San Francisco, CA – August 16, 2005 – Leadership Public Schools (LPS), a not-for-profit network of outstanding charter high schools, has named Alex Terman to the new position of chief operating officer, in which he will oversee finance and accounting, human resources, facilities, marketing, and school operations. Terman previously was LPS' vice president of operations.

Leadership Public Schools Raises $5M To Establish New Public Charter Schools in California
Leadership Public Schools ( LPS ), a not-for-profit organization founded in 2002 to serve diverse students throughout California with a network of outstanding charter high schools, today announced that it had raised more than $5 million from venture philanthropy firm NewSchools Venture Fund. Coupled with existing funds, this new commitment will allow LPS to create new high-quality college preparatory opportunities for approximately 3,500 students in ethnic and economically diverse Northern California communities by developing seven small public charter high schools over the next two to three years.
