Thanks to the generous support from our Board and donors, LPS has been able to offer a number of unique "LPS Signature Experiences".

Freshmen Leadership Retreat
The Freshmen Leadership Retreat is a key component of our program and is held the week before school begins for all incoming 9th graders.  Students from all four LPS schools gather for two nights and three days of team-building activities. Students and staff engage in activities designed to build trust and respect for one another and mutually supportive relationships.  Students are grouped in the advisories that they will be working in throughout the year and, before school even begins, they learn to work together as a team that values the diversity of our school community. The culminating activity of the retreat includes a day-long ropes course where students learn to rely on one another to help all members of their incoming class climb a 15-foot wall. The Freshmen Retreat also provides an opportunity to introduce students to college life and get their first glimpse into LPS' unique culture: a small community that encourages self expression, exploration and the personal growth of each individual student.

Academic Advisory
Every student is assigned to an Academic Advisory group that will be a four-year “family” – a teacher and 20 students that travel together on their LPS journey. Friday Family Meetings bring all advisory groups together to celebrate successes, address school issues and reinforce the college-going culture.

Week Without Walls
All LPS students participate in another LPS Signature Experience, Week Without Walls. Week Without Walls provides students a week-long opportunity to expand their horizons through camping, producing a music video, interviewing start-up entrepreneurs, participating in social service projects and a myriad of other activities. The week culminates with presentations and exhibitions of this extended learning.
