A Message from the Superintendent to the LPS Community

November 9, 2016

Dear LPS Family,

Today is a very difficult one for all of us as we wake up to the reality that the vision so many of us have for America has been called into question.  More importantly, today will be especially difficult for so many of our students and their families who have felt so disenfranchised by the rhetoric of this election and are so concerned about their futures. We have been talking a lot about the importance of building our students’ sense of belonging.  Today and in the coming weeks and months, it is even more critical that our schools become a place of refuge, empowerment, hope and, so importantly, belonging.

Today each of us will be the most tangible anchor for our students, the most concrete expression that their world has not come apart.  Thank you so much for being there for them, and for each other.

Today makes our work even more important.

Thank you,

Louise
