Evaluation

We believe in accountability. We use multiple assessments at Leadership Public Schools, reflecting a "balanced scorecard" approach. Our quantitative and qualitative assessment tools include:

  • Standardized tests required for public schools (including STAR and the California High School Exit Exam).
  • Standardized integrated writing assessments.
  • Trend analysis of dropout rates and attendance rates.
  • In-house assessments developed by curriculum designers and Leadership staff for all areas of the academic core.
  • Formal assessments related to the day-to-day work (e.g. daily quizzes, unit tests).
  • Surveys of all constituencies (parents, students, teachers, staff, etc.) to solicit feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Qualitative observations of the process of learning, such as teachers’ notes and a student’s reflection log.
  • Graduation portfolios and exhibitions, demonstrating the students' mastery of the four Leadership Outcomes of critical thinking, clear and effective communication, personal responsibility, and social responsibility.
