of teacher professionalism and collaboration.

The LPS academic philosophy is founded on three distinguishing characteristics: College Ready Curriculum, College Ready Supports, and a College Ready Culture.

The LPS-Hayward Curriculum

LPS-Hayward offers students a University of California-approved A-G curriculum. This means that the graduation requirements at Leadership Public Schools-Hayward are equivalent to the entrance requirements for the University of California and the California State University system. All students who graduate from LPS-Hayward will be eligible for admission into UC and CSU schools.

LPS-Hayward Academic Support Systems

Each student at LPS-Hayward is guided by a personalized learning plan that supports the LPS college preparatory curriculum. LPS teachers and staff do frequent reviews of student performance to ensure that the students have access to after-school tutoring and literacy support classes. LPS also offers specialized support classes for English Learners and struggling readers. The LPS class size, which is 15-20% smaller than a typical high school, continues to provide a level of support not usually available to high school students in California.

The LPS-Hayward College-Going Culture

From the beginning, LPS-Hayward’s vision has been to build future leaders with the skills and knowledge s to make a difference in their communities and the larger world.  Every single student at LPS-Hayward knows that by choosing to attend LPS, they have chosen to take a more difficult path than students at neighboring schools. They also are well aware that what makes LPS-Hayward different is our belief that every one of our students are someday bound for college.
