Latina Club      
OYE Mexicanas, Salvadoreñas, Nicaraguenses, Colombianas, Peruanas, y otras chicas Latino Americanas: Latina Club is a space where young Latina girls evolve into young Latina ladies by exploring our culture (values, music, food, language), our leadership potential, our self-perceptions, and our unique journey to college. Las espero para celebrar nuestro orgullo de ser Latinas!

Chess  
Want to learn how to play the ultimate board game? Even better, would you like to test your chess skills against fellow students and the resident chemistry teacher in a chess tournament? If you enjoy using strategy and your brain, this is the club for you. You will learn basic chess strategies and test them in battle.

Ultimate Frisbee          
Combining the non-stop movement and athletic endurance of soccer with the aerial passing skills of football, a game of Ultimate is played by two seven-player squads with a high-tech plastic disc on a field similar to football. The object of the game is to score by catching a pass in the opponent’s end zone. A player must stop running while in possession of the disc, but may pivot and pass to any of the other receivers on the field.  Come join Mr. Heffner for Ultimate Frisbee Club to learn how to play the action packed sport that is a favorite at colleges around the country.  This club is for players of all skill levels and athletic abilities.

Flag Football   
Want to play some football? Join football club. We will work on the fundamentals and have a championship game on the final meeting.

Cards +           
You will build strategies and skills through difficult card games, dice games and dominoes

Gov Club        
Gov Club is an AP Government extra prep time open for all members of the AP Gov. Practice skills, get assistance, prepare for tests and help others.

Improv
Love theater?  Think you're funny?  Want to practice thinking on your feet?  The Improve club will channel these skills into creating completely original theater...on the spot.  We'll learn techniques that will allow us to move beyond funny one-liners and create hilarious scenes between two brand-new characters every time.  You don't want to miss this because each scene has never happened before and it will never happen again.

Literary Magazine        
Have you ever wanted to see your work published? Have you ever wanted to edit and lay-out a magazine? Do you love poetry, art and creative writing? Then the LPS Literary Magazine is for you! As staff editors you will be collecting and approving submissions of poetry, creative writing pieces, and art. If you want to help  design and edit LPS’ first-ever Literary Magazine join this club!

Media Club     
Has anyone ripped your arm off of your body after spraying yourself with Chocolate AXE spray? Probably not. In media club we will study aspects of media and how it impacts our society. We'll start analyzing social media sites like myspace, facebook and twitter and move to subjects like advertising, public relations and journalism. We'll learn what makes an advertisement effective and actually create our own advertisements as well potentially create a school newsletter if there is student interest. We'll also start up a school twitter and facebook fan pages and maintain them for ongoing school events!

Spoken Word 
Spoken word club is an opportunity for find your voice.  Find confidence speaking in front of a group, share poetic words with classmates and teachers, tap into emotions through speaking and writing.  All of this and more awaits you.  If you enjoy reading poetry, writing poetry, or are new to poetry and would like to find out more, this is the place for you!

Running           
This is not the walking club. Come join us if you want to get some fresh air and get in shape by going for a nice, long run once a week. "There are clubs you can't belong to, neighborhoods you can't live in, schools you can't get into, but the roads are always open."  - Nike

Soccer
Soccer Club is a chance to leave the classroom behind and get some exercise. Males and females, beginners and advanced players welcome, as we will start with some soccer basics (stretching, warm-ups, trapping, dribbling, passing, shooting) and move on to more advanced topics and games with even teams. This year will be a more serious approach to improving our skills, and we encourage only those students who can commit to bringing the right equipment, playing EVERY WEEK, and who are not afraid to go home stinky.

Music
We will be singing a capella a variety of pieces from classical to modern and contemporary. Also, we will learn some basic notions of music.

Comic Slop     
This club will look have fun reading, creating, and investigating comic books and manga (including their different forms), and their influence on popular culture at large. In addition we will also watch and discuss various forms of American animated comic series, and Japanese animated manga commonly called anime. The goal will be to produce our own 5-10 page comic to distribute in the schools so artists are definitely welcome.

The Five Club  
Whatever happens in five club stays in five club. Attention all AP U.S. History students.  If you want to score a five on the AP test and you don't want to be ostracized by the rest of your AP U.S. history class, then join the Five Club.  If you want to be a loser and stand in Ms. B's stocks, then join the other clubs.

Yearbook        
Wanna be in the yearbook this year?  Then sign up for yearbook club!  We will create this year's yearbook using the computer lab to upload pictures and design page layouts.  We need students from all grade levels 9-12 who have a lot of creativity and are willing to work hard.  No experience necessary, but students who worked on the yearbook last year and already know what to do are encouraged to sign up.  Come help make this year's yearbook the best ever! 

Basketball       
Kobe and LeBron brought home the gold from Beijing. Where's your game at? At Basketball club we will work on the fundamentals of basketball and have a series of tournament style games. Come improve your game, get some exercise and compete with the ballers of LPS.

IN PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS          
In this club you will be able to know what you need to be a happier healthier person. We will work together in taking the positive steps in becoming a happier healthier person. We will watch movies and documentaries; listen to motivational speakers; read interesting articles about positive affirmation; and practice these advices in becoming a happier healthier human being. Our main goal is to be healthy physically, mentally and emotionally to contribute and spread our overall wellbeing.

Students-Teaching-Students-Spanish
In this club, students will be designing and teaching lessons to help improve their fellow classmates' Spanish-speaking skills. Native Spanish speakers and students interested in learning Spanish are encouraged to sign up. The native speakers will implement whole-class lessons as well as work one-on-one with the Spanish-learners. This is a great opportunity to learn conversational Spanish in a different kind of setting.

Latin Dance     
For those of you who love to dance Merengue, Cumbia, Salsa, Bachata, Duranguense or any other kind of Latin dance this is the club for you!  We will be splitting up into groups, choreographing dances and then performing them for the school or special events like Independence day or Cinco de Mayo.

Yoga for strength and piece of mind.    
Do you want to do something active out in the sunshine? Do you want to learn to relax your body and mind? If so, yoga club is for you! Together we will engage in physical and mental exercise to relieve stress, improve focus and promote wellness.
