DIGITAL DESIGN CLASS

Students learn design skills on state-of-the-art Apple computers in our Digital Design Class.

Students at LPS San Jose come from communities across Santa Clara County and have one thing in common: College. LPS San Jose celebrated a 95% college acceptance rate for its 2012 graduating class.

Student Government
All students at LPS San Jose are invited to participate in student government.  Elections are held in the fall of each school year and two students are elected by their peers to represent their grade level in student government. In addition to this, a core group of ASB officers are elected. These students are the foundation of the student government and are responsible planning and organizing dances, fundraisers and lunchtime activities. All students can participate in student government planning and help host events.

Enrichment Activities
Through our school’s 21st Century Assets Grant and LPS Board sponsored fundraising, students and teachers work together to develop enrichment classes and after school clubs. We currently offer the following classes/activities:

  • Yearbook
  • Drama and Theatre Production
  • Study Hall
  • Martial Arts
  • Soccer
  • Basketball
  • Softball

Freshman Leadership Retreat
The Freshmen Leadership Retreat is a key component of our program and is held the week before school begins for all incoming 9th graders.  Students from all four LPS schools gather for two nights and three days of team-building activities. Students and staff engage in activities designed to build trust and respect for one another and mutually supportive relationships. The culminating activity of the retreat includes a day-long ropes course where students learn to rely on one another to help all members of their incoming class climb a 15-foot wall.

Academic Advisory
Every student is assigned to an Academic Advisory group that will be a four-year “family” – a teacher and 20 students that travel together on their LPS journey.

Week Without Walls
All LPS San Jose students participate in Week Without Walls, a week-long opportunity to expand their horizons through camping, producing a music video, interviewing start-up entrepreneurs, participating in social service projects and much more.
